{"id":92342,"date":"2018-11-23T13:29:24","date_gmt":"2018-11-23T18:29:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=92342"},"modified":"2025-06-17T14:40:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-17T18:40:16","slug":"five-things-knights-need-know-giving-tuesday-ucf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/five-things-knights-need-know-giving-tuesday-ucf\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Things You Need to Know About Giving Tuesday at UCF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Falling on\u00a0the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday puts its own philanthropic spin on days like Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 27, people all over the world will celebrate generosity by giving their time, talent and treasure.\u00a0We encourage\u00a0our\u00a0Knights to consider UCF when participating in Giving Tuesday this year.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, here are five things Knights should know about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/272673730057563\/\">Giving Tuesday at UCF<\/a>:<br \/>\n<strong>1. Giving Tuesday is on Tuesday, Nov. 27.<\/strong><br \/>\nBut you can\u00a0#GiveToUCF\u00a0as early as today by visiting ucffoundation.org\/givingtuesday.<br \/>\n<strong>2. Last year, 700 donors raised $71,000 to support programs at the university on Giving Tuesday.<\/strong><br \/>\nFrom the UCF Football Excellence fund to gifts that enabled the Knights Pantry to provide meals for students,\u00a0each and every dollar donated has a lasting impact on Knights.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>3. This year\u2019s goal is to surpass last year\u2019s success, and it will take all of us working together to make it happen.<\/strong><br \/>\nEvery gift matters. Whether it\u2019s $5, $10 or $50, it makes a collective impact.<br \/>\n<strong>4. If you have a passion, we can find a fund at UCF that deserves your support.<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you can\u2019t decide where to donate,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/alumni-giving\/\"><strong>consider making a gift to UCF\u2019s Area of Greatest Need<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0By doing so, the university can direct your gift to a program or department that needs support, and therefore will offer the greatest impact.<br \/>\n<strong>5. All giving matters \u2013 whether it\u2019s a donation, your time or talent.<\/strong><br \/>\nHere are some other ways to show your support:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Volunteer with a\u00a0local alumni group<\/li>\n<li>Become a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ucfalumni.com\/sma\">social media ambassador<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.com\/florida-license-plates\/\">Knight Your Ride<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Cheer loud and proud at\u00a0the next UCF sporting event<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ucfalumni.com\/chargeonmentorship\">Mentor current UCF students<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Hire a Knight<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/events.ucf.edu\/\">Attend an event<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most importantly, share your story. Tell everyone what it means to be a Knight and why you love UCF.
